As I will not be online at the dot of midnight then I will wish you a Happy New Year now.

What a great time to do a review of the year, so here we go.

Neil’s Review of 2003

Good start, quite nice next bit, not quite so great bit, really good bit, OK bit, then a good bit, then an OK bit.

Just exploiting the code in the Greenbelt website for my own amusement.

Well, it’s all over then…

… I am surrounded by lots of lovely gifts though, lovely new CD’s from Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kate Rusby, Coldplay(DVD), Embrace, The Thrills, Evanses…er…Evenences…um…Evanescence, and a Bluegrass compilation.

Then we got a lovely personal CD player to play all the lovely CDs on, and some racks to store all the lovely CDs in.

Plus more chocolate that we could ever, ever eat.

Christmas Charts…

…I am torn, I understand peoples complaints about Mad World not being a very festive song, but I do like it. The fact a miserable, thoughtful and mournful song should be at number one gives me a strange perverse sense of happiness.

Oh course the Darkness song is great as well – that’s them set up for life, a song to be trawled out year after year.

Perhaps the Wibsite should produce it’s own Christmas single next year, “Have a Wibby Christmas” perhaps, or we could use a weak pun (Yule wiblog?).

It’s food for thought anyway.

Pop Idol…

…It really is a pleasure to watch two of the most talented people in the country do their thing this evening … such a shame the contestants have to ruin it!

Long live Ant and Dec.

Birds…

Written by neil on December 19, 2003 at 9:22 pm in Uncategorized

…Walking home I saw an amazing sight.

Literally thousands of birds were flying around in a huge flock (swarm would be a better word), creating patterns in the sky that reminded me of pictures I have seen of the Northen Lights, at points the sky was black with them. Several people had stopped walking (as had I) and were staring up at them.

It was at this point I head a “plop, plop, plop” sound, and realised I was standing in a shower of bird poo. It rather ruined a beautiful moment really.

(I got plopped on twice, by the way)

Plants…

… Some men came into the office today, they were carrying dusters and things and I thought nothing of it. A few minutes later I noticed some movement in one of the large pot plants, a man was dusting the leaves!

I turned to my colleage and pointed this out, he was not suprised, they do it each month.

It turns out that we “hire” the plants, and part of the service is that they “maintain” the plants for us.

Dusting plants??? Whatever next.
