Eurovision…

…Great Eurovision last night, good to see someone losing their shoe at the end.

Terry really is getting more and more irrational and wound up each year, but he still makes the event one of the top TV events of the year!

Now excuse me while I buy some leather and some large sticks – and set up a band…

Musical bits…

…The new Keane album arrived this morning, it is certainly good, but perhaps lacking some of the energy they put into the live gigs… we are seeing a friends band “Mummy Smack” at the cavern soon, she started work with me but decided she could not live the life of a Civil Servant, I think she made the right choice, and I am looking forward to catching up with her… Also got a Queens Greatest Hits CD today, I had forgotton how great they were, the obscure songs are in fact the best ones…

Stress…

Written by neil on May 10, 2004 at 11:00 pm in Uncategorized

…It is not like me to have a stressful day, and less so talk about it – but let me have a little moan, just this once.

After running around all morning getting people to have the right amount of people answering calls it all seemed to be going well, until 10 minutes before I was about to leave I answered a call that kept me busy for over an hour :(

I had to rush to the shop, rush home, quickly get something to eat before having a driving lesson. But sadly while between work and the shop I got cought in a MASSIVE thunderstorm, that left me soaked and bedraggled.

So, 15 minutes to get changed out of wet clothes, eat, feed the animals and get mentally prepared for driving.

The instructor has a new car (a Clio), which is very nice, but the brakes are so light that every stop was an emergency stop for the first hour. After 2 hours of that i was a nervous wreck, and that put me in a really bad mood, oh, and my foot still hurts…

Thought I would sit down and watch “I am not an Animal” on the TV tonight, but it was so surreal that it scrambled my brain – hence this wiblog entry and the large glass of wine I have….

Weekend…

Written by neil on May 9, 2004 at 11:47 pm in Uncategorized

…Where did the weekend go?

Friday night we (eventually) made it down to the Double Locks here in Exeter for a drink or two, Martyn was drunk by the time we got there (to our amusement) and the others were just thinking about leaving.

Tonight we watched the recording of todays Grand prix, boring race again, I hope the season livens up soon!

And suddenly it is time to go back to work… how did that happen???

An apple a day…

Written by neil on May 8, 2004 at 6:13 pm in Uncategorized

… Just finished my AppleFM show for the day, I am starting to feel more confident and getting some regular features, although I do have the tendency to get on a subject and waffle way to long about it – but if Andrew Collins and Stuart Maconie can get away with it the perhaps I can?

What I still really want is a couple of people I can ring up regularly (well, fairly regularly) on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning who can be an “expert” on something, for example a weekly weblog review, or best music sites, or best gig of the week, or books… or something!

Any volunteers?

Foot…

Written by neil on May 6, 2004 at 8:55 am in Uncategorized

…an unplanned day off work today, I woke up this morning and something in the sole of my foot was so painful that I could hardly stand in the shower without tears being brought to my eyes. I have had this for a few days (Hmm, wait, since Sunday in fact – now what was I doing on Sunday that could have brought this on?) but today was so bad I thought I would never make it into work.

Amanda suggested I go to the NHS walk-in centre – oh, the irony.

Keane…

…Went to see the band Keane at Exeter Universitys Lemongrove – Wow, absolutely amazing, quite a mindblowing sound they produce, and we were so close to them in a small venue as well (and the beer was cheap!). Even the support band were worthy too (Rooney – do you see a football theme?).

Bought their new single “Everybody’s Changing” yesterday, it’s been a long time since I have found a band that I want to buy every new release of, but their consistancy (even on B-sides) is so high that it is money well spent!

I just really want to see them again now, but the whole tour is sold out – I guess next time they will be looking at booking big venues, and they deserve every success they get!

…A picture of me and Darren after the race, we look OK really, don’t we?

My legs don’t feel OK this morning though…
