…My computer died at the weekend, it has slowly been griding to a halt for a long time, and on Sunday it finally came to a rest.

It has been a good excuse to by a laptop though, and now I can wiblog sitting anywhere in the living room I like. Luxury.

… Come on, does anyone want to see Maximo Park with me down at the Cavern tonight?

TV…

… I Hardly ever watch the TV – in fact I had not switched it on for over a month until last night. I decided that as I am paying my TV licence I really should use it and get my moneys worth.

So last night I relocated the TV into the living room, and tried to watch TV. To be honest the only thing on that interested me was What the Ancients Did for US, but I have to admit it was an informative and well made programme. What else should I be watching – Bear in mind I don’t like American comedy, reality TV, quiz shows, things where people have to carry out challenges or soaps…

CDs…

…We all love listing things, and I love listing my favourite bands/singers/albims/songs, but have found that it changes from week to week – depending on my general mood. i though a better way of finding out what music I really like is to see which artists I have bought the most CDs of in the last 13 or so years.

I realise there are faults with this, for instance my favourite band – Blur – do not even appear in the list as they have not released enough albums, and bands like Sleeper and Dubstar don’t stand a chance, despite owning all their albums! Likewise a new band such as Coldplay or Keane do not feature either. But despite that it is interesting to see my top ten…

10. 10,000 Maniacs

9. David Gray

8. Show of Hands

7. Pet Shop Boys

6. R.E.M.

5. Belle and Sebastian

4. Billy Bragg

3. Mary Chapin Carpenter

2. Eddi Reader

1. Genesis

So from Folk to Elecronica, American soft rock to prog rock – I think its not a bad selection!

Weekend bits…

…Had a fun night seeing my friends band, to be honest the overall quality of the bands on the night was not high, but a mention must go to Dotstar for be genuinely listenable – Ben Folds Five with guitars.

Have applied for some part time work at a bar/club opening in Exeter soon. At the moment the place is just a shell, but it looks like they are going to turn it into something quite amazing. Should find out on tuesday if i have got a job there or not. While searching for the place on the net I found this link, which is a great guide to Exeter for students and locals alike!

More people found this wiblog last week searching for “Nicola Bonn”, so I will say it again. If Nicola Bonn is reading please contact me, then I can thank you personally for getting me about 10 extra visitors a month.

I can’t decide whether to not bother giving a Valentines card at all, or whether to put on in everyones in-tray at work…

Job…

…The interview in Scotland came to nothing, so looks like I will just have to make the best of the job I have at the moment. It’s not a bad job, just a little tedious. I will cope until another job sticks out at me.

On the evening of March the 11th the Call Centre is being turned over to Comic Relief, and we will be one of the main contact centres taking pledges on the night. We need 100 people to man the phones, we have lots, but need more! If you are interested in volunteering please let me know, you don’t need experience! Should be a fun night with food, fun, local celebrities and TV, radio and newspapers hanging around.

OK, off to see a friends band play now – What kind of name is MummySmack???

Overtime…

…argh, doing overtime today, although I do need the money and it is pretty quiet. I even parked the Panda in the centre manager’s space, which gives me a warm feeling.

Water is dripping through the ceiling at work, which is nice. If we had not opened today then we could have arrived on Monday to find the place awash. Holly is on the case and men have been called…

Street Spirit playing at the Longbrooke in Cowick Street tonight, be there or be… well… spared from having to spend time with me and my drunk friends.

Rest…

Written by neil on February 3, 2005 at 11:51 am in Uncategorized

…I did manage to rest on Tuesday after a manic weekend! It was fun flying to Scotland, but very strange getting on a plane in Bristol, and stepping off in the same country! The clouds and sunset on the way home were amazing though, and saw part of the coast of Cumbria which looked so beautiful below.

Rooster on Saturday was fun, undemanding tuneful indie-pop. Musically things are dead for a while now, with a smatter of gigs during March and April. If I had the money I would go to lots – Hence doing overtime this week!
