Week…

Written by neil on June 29, 2005 at 4:57 pm in Uncategorized

…Not really been a good week, what with hayfever, running out of money, living on noodles and peas, any social things have fallen through, people miserable at work… nothing major but enough to get you down.

On the plus side Gareth lent me a CD by Solomon Burke, which is cheering my evenings up consideribly! Amazing artist, suprised I have missed him before!

Sight for sore eyes…

…My hayfever was so bad last night, I woke up and my eyes were glued together. I had to stumble to the sink to get warm water on them to open them up. Yuck, disgusting.

DAB…

…Another of my DAB radios needed replacing today, much as i love the things they dont seem to last more than 6 months. At least they replace each one with a brand new one for no extra cost each time. I have had Phillips, Pure evoke, and Grundig Opus all do wrong on me so far. Got a Matsui one now (really just a grundig with silver bits), lets see how it lasts.

Have been jealous watching Glasto on the TV, but I have some good things planned, Greenbelt, Wiscombe Hill climb, camping, and perhaps Trowbridge folk festival and also the British touring car championship. I shouldn’t complain!

Why are BBC2 just showing the same few bands over and over? So much good music there and all we have seen is White Stripes and the Killers. New music like MIA got a small look in, and Eliza did a token folk slot last night. but come on, promote the good new British bands!

Sqaure eyes…

…to be honest there is too much on TV this weekend to go out, Wimbledon, Glasto, and an extended Big Brother. I will have to make careful use of the video recorder and fill in all the gaps with 6music and Radio1 getting washed away in a field in Somerset.

Amazing storm last night, the sky lit up for about 4 hours. Enjoyable but I am sleep deprived because of it.

In other news… I am about to make my return to the ranks of a certain popular large website, be afraid, be very afraid.

Dixie darling…

…Just got back from seeing Hayseed Dixie play in Exeter – Rock covers in the bluegrass style – How can you go wrong?

Was a great evening, and it felt free as I bought the ticket such a long time ago, even better at this satge in the month.

Not a great deal else to report, my days mainly consist of scratching my eyes, working, sneezing, sitting in the sun, producing snot and watching Big Brother.

Itchy eyes…

Sudoko…

Some puzzles to do at http://www.sudoku.org.uk/backpuzzles.htm … or just look at the books at numbers 1,2,3,and 4 in the paperback bestsellers! It’s good fun and keeps the mind sharp.

Sometimes when i get bored I chat to people in chatrooms, usually I give up very quickly, but sometimes you get involved in interesting discussions. A few things I have noted about people online…

1. Asian girls seem to think that black men are stealing our wives. What???
2. Everyone wants to travel the world, but when you ask them where they only ever say the UK or America.
3. When you ask “Have you been up to much today” a non-Brit will say “Yes”. A Brit will tell you in length about every detail of the day.
4. Shed 7 are big in the Far East
5. Some people genuinely think that you can fall in love via a chat room.
6. Oasis are known worldwide, No one has heard of Blur.
7. People say “Cool” the world over
8. Lots of people are scared of cats and that they are evil.

I give up with this Coldplay title theme…

…And anyway, the new album came through the post today, so i am happy :)

I almost put a vacancy in the jobcentres today that said “Will be responsible for the day-to-day ruining of the business”. Oops.

Should I put a small bet on the Tennis? I have only bet on sports twice before with no luck, but perhaps it would hold my interest of Wimbledom a bit more than usual? Any suggestions?

Everything’s not lost…

…Spend an hour doing a “quick” Sudoko last night, and still made a mistake and got it all wrong.

Parked the car at work yesterday, it was slighlty wonky within the lines but not too bad. Then John comes into work and says “Nice parking”, and I protest it was not really that bad. John being John has taken a photo of my car on his phone. Hmm, yes, it’s between 2 bays, and I didn’t park it there!

Turns out that I forgot to put the handbrake on and the car had decided to park itself a little further down the hill…
