Everything is Broken…

…The phones have not been working all day here, which is kind of essential in a call centre! To make things worse the coffee machine is broken too. Everything is very quiet apart from the occasional caffeine addicts cries.

This wiblog was broken too, sorry about that, all looks well now though.

Has been a good weekend, very low key but nice. Enjoyed the Grand Prix, watched Marylin Monroe in The Seven Year Itch, which was really enjoyable. Also enjoyed Donnie Darko and a fairly trashy but fun film that Ivonne had called Go. The three days felt more like 2, but at least it is now a short week at work!

Music…

…It has been a long time since I heard a song, and liked it so much that I went out the next day and bought the album. But this is what happened when I heard Everybody’s going to war by Nerina Pallot on Mark Radcliffes show the other night. I am pleased to say that the album is really great, and although she is not the next big thing she makes perfectly enjoyable music that really fits my mood at the moment. I know the novelty will wear off and it will nestle next to Vanessa Carlton, Jewel, and Lisa Loab to be only dusted off once in a while, but for now I am really enjoying it.

Things to look forward to…

Wiblog entry for 23/05/2006

It was good to hear the first of the new series of I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue on Radio 4 last night, but I was slightly annoyed to hear my joke (July 18th 2002) being used. Oh well, the price of being a comic genius.

Watched 24 Hour Party People, which although good in parts I found a little tedious. I like the fact there are so many cool people from the “Madchester” scene in it, but am frustrated bu Coogans character, which is just all his other characters. Not as good as A Cock and Bull Story, but perhaps if I had watched them the other way around I would feel differently.

DaVinci…

…”Tom Hank’s hair wasn’t actually that bad.” Ivonne’s blog.

…”It is always nice to see Paris on the big screen, Audrey looked great, and that is the first cinematic Smart car chase I have seen.” Me, on a discussion forum.

…”I sneaked in free.” A jobseeker on the phone.

Great entertainment…

…started on Friday night with a fun time at Steve and Sarahs with a rather haphazard game of poker, then last night with the double bill of the bizarre lottery show and the wonders of Lordi winning a supurb Eurovison song contest. then this afternoon we watched The DaVinci Code code at the Picturehouse, which, although being a bit long, was quite enjoyable. I won’t say much about it as everyone is going on and on about it, but it is nowhere near as bad as the reviewers make out.

Paradise Now…

Written by neil on May 19, 2006 at 9:00 am in Uncategorized

…I was a little disappointed by Paradise Now, perhaps I was building it up too much. I liked the fact it was filmed in the West Bank, obviously it would have been very difficult and I imagine dangerous to film. I just felt that as a film it didn’t hold up. Not enough emotion invested in the characters, although the relationship between the two bombers was interesting, I felt the relationship between the main character and his mother could have been developed. Some of the dialogue was preachy, saying things that would have been better coming out of the storyline instead of slowing the pace for a long sermon. It was an interesting film, but left me feeling emotionally neutral towards the characters and didn't add anything to my knowledge and opinion of the situation.

Now, now, now…

…I meant Paradise Now of course, but the system won’t let me edit for some reason… grrr.

Boring week…

… sorry about the lack of updates, not a lot has really happened! Went out for some drinks with a friend and got beaten at pool, and last night watched Withnail and I, tonight off to see Paradise Lost… other than that very little has happened! Hopefully things will liven up this weekend… it is Eurovision after all!
