Picture of the Day, Number One…

Months and months ago Dennis got some seeds free in a packet of cereal, as he does not have a garden (or the will to garden!) I took them and stuck them in a pot on my windsill, finally a few weeks ago they started to flower – I know they are not much but I am proud of them!

Extended Weekend…

Written by neil on August 30, 2006 at 9:53 am in Uncategorized

…Have had a few days off work, this being my last one. Been fairly busy, Dave and Lindi’s Wedding on Saturday, seeing my family on Sunday, the New Devon Army “Devon Day” at Havana on Monday and seeing British Sea Power at the Cavern last night.

Really missed going to Greenbelt this year, I feel all confused as it always signalled the end and start of my “year”, and today would normally feel a bit like New Years Day, but it just feels boringly normal.

Off this afternoon to record some trails and jingles for the new radio show, hopefully I will find out a little more about the new station as well, will be fun to get behind a microphone again (as opposed to a telephone headset!).

…Film warnings used to just be telling you that there may be sex, or strong langauge, or violence in them, nowadays they seem to be really specific – for example these from the Odeon website:-

Contains strong language, sex and bloody violence

Contains mild language and intense action

Contains moderate and comic wrestling violence

Contains mild slapstick

Would you really not go to see a film because of action or slapstick?

…I am not someone who wants “things” very often, but I can’t help wanting one of these.

In reality I will get something much older and less shiney, but have decided it is time to get a car again. Although driving around town is no fun I do miss the visiting little towns and villages and the beach that my old Panda offered me, and the fun of motorway driving and being able to get to gigs in Bristol. Hopefully by Christmas I will have something, that is my aim anyway!

Take the money…

…Watched the Woody Allen film Take the Money and Run over the weekend, I think it has one of the funniest scenes I have ever seen in a film, where Woody Allens character gets a place on a marching band with his Cello, and is running along with Cello, bow and chair trying to keep up. You really have to see it… oh well.

In other news Ivonne is back, I have a cold (picked up from camping I think) and I suddenly realised I had booked several days off this weekend to go to Greenbelt, and although I am not going to Greenbelt now this year I forgot to cancel the days – So woohoo, I have a week off soon!

…I have been wanting to put some pictures up of my weekend away camping, but Flickr won’t let me upload at the moment, might be a firewall thingy, I will try again later. The weekend was excellent though, even if we did keep getting lost on the Quantock Hills!

Pete at work lent me the film V for Vendetta this week, I really didn’t expect to like it, but it was actually excellent. Stylishly filmed and a very chilling view of the future that is not a million miles away from where this country and government could be heading.

AA…

…So I am short stacked, just after the break get dealt AA. Ok, play it cool, pretend to have nothing. Call the big blind, fold, fold, fold, raise to 800, that’s most of what I have, fold, all in – 2000 chips. I go all in with my 1200 chips.

First player shows, QQ, second player KK, me AA – What are the chances of that? Of course a Queen comes on the river sending 2 of us home – That’s poker! Had a great time though, and well done to Steve for getting in the money.

…Woohoo, at last a win for Jenson button, hooray!

Let’s see if I can win at the Exeter poker club tonight – I somehow doubt it…
