Vista…

…how nice it is to be online again, and how nice and rounded Microsoft Vista is! Not being a geeky type I don’t know if people have liked Vista or loathed it, from my one evening of using it so far I would say it is a vast improvement, much more user friendly…. and so rounded.

Catch up time…

I have been offered a job (twice) in Cardiff recently, but the wage would not justify moving away from friends, family and the nicest part of Britian there is. Add another £6000 per year I may have considered it.

Another exam next week, think this is going to be the trickiest one of all, Greek historians, too many dates and names to remember. I think the only way it to memorise a few events and try and squish them into essay answers… well, it might work.

…I have a new laptop, managed to connect to the internet in minutes, and the screen is so wide…

Will be a few days sussing it out and getting all the settings right, but it’s good to be back online.

Laptopless…

… Thanks for your comments, sadly I can’t afford a Mac, so that won’t be an option! Looking to get a new laptop later in the week though.

Had a good weekend, the radio show for BayFM went well, the studio is so funny, its in an old boat shed, and feels run down, but full of character, it is so hidden away it feels like a pirate station! Then off to my parents to watch the Grand Prix.

Yesterday was unexpectedly sunny, so we went out for a drive and ended up meeting up with my parents and went to Babbacombe and Torquay. I am sure Ivonne will have pictures on her blog before too long.

And now…. back to work :(

Shared house…

…My housemate is an idiot when he is drunk. He crashed in at about 2am waking the house up, then proceeded to turn his music on in his room. I banged on his door to turn it down, he did do so but it was still too loud. My other housemate banged on the door to tell him to turn it off, which he did do, but then at 3am he turned it on again. I stormed into his room and called him names and he finally turned it off for good.

All my good plans of having an early night were wasted by the hour and half I was awake in the night.

I might text him now to tell him that he is an idiot.

Energy levels low…

Written by neil on May 23, 2007 at 9:36 am in Uncategorized

…I think last night I was the human equivilant of a mobile phone that is beeping because its battery is low. Sleep has energised me a little though.

Still have not got interviews together for the radio show, although the rest of the fabric of the programme is pretty much in place, still behind on reading for college, and was offered a job yesterday that I don’t really want due to it not being in Exeter (still, nice to be asked I suppose).

Luck…

…”I’m just here to observe and mock”

The one good line it the otherwise pretty awful Just my Luck. Sometimes I wonder why i add things to my Lovefilm list, there must have been a reason at some point.

Finally saw saw Brokeback Mountain at the weekend, yeah, it’s pretty good, I have to admit.

I survived today by the way. An unusual phone call at an unusual moment, lots of beeping of the stocktake machines and a nice pasty (I know, I am so Devonian).

After the Wedding…

Written by neil on May 20, 2007 at 12:53 pm in Uncategorized

… We went to see After the Wedding last night at the Picturehouse. It is a Danish film about a guy who is an aid worker in India, and has to come back to Denmark to get more funding for his project. It is then that it all gets confusing, motives are hard to guess at and it gets quite heavy. the trailer to the film makes it look like it is going to be a nice romantic story with some infidelity thrown in, it is nothing like this!

It is a really excellent film though, once all my expectations of what is was going to be had been thrown aside, really well acted, nicely paced and tasteful use of music, bothe strings and Indian music. Essentially it is a film about good people trying to do the right thing in awful circumstances.

Fry up at Wetherspoons this morning (Just £2.10), now I am all set for the day (and this silly stocktake tomorrow).

£5 Down…

Written by neil on May 19, 2007 at 12:10 am in Uncategorized

…Despite being dealt AK four (yes, four!) times this evening I still ended up £5 down, I won big on a pair of Kings, but otherwise played things badly I feel. I don’t really mind as we had a good laugh, and that is the main point!

I think I ate too much sugar tonight (someone always brings Haribo sweets along to these games), I feel on a high and like I am never going to sleep, it’s worse than caffiene.

Disaster in the making…

Written by neil on May 18, 2007 at 12:07 pm in Uncategorized

…Someone rang me at work yesterday to ask if we are ready for our stocktake on Monday. What stock take? I replied. Seems that they planned a stocktake without telling us, on a week the manager is away and when we are already short staffed. It really is going to be a disaster.
