How not to run a bookshop and deal with people…

Written by neil on September 29, 2007 at 1:29 pm in Uncategorized

… Handed in my notice just in time, I have found out that our owners want to run each shop with just one person, and as they presented us with an unsignable (by which I mean only an idiot would sign it, not that it is printed on ink-proof paper) contract they will be lucky if they have enough staff left to run any shops at all. It has nearly been a month since we have been allowed to place a stock order and the shop is running out of stuff. In fact I predict that in a few months the shops won’t exist at all, hundreds of years of bookselling torn apart in one year, very sad.

…I went to an interview yesterday and got the job!!! Woohoo.

So in two weeks time I will be working for a major high street building society!

Novelty…

Written by neil on September 27, 2007 at 10:07 am in Uncategorized

…the novelty of not having internet has worn off now, it was fun at first, but now I am starting to feel a bit seperated from some of my online communities and friends. Sorry to anyone who thinks I am ignoring them, i am not, honest!

There is a new Apple store opening up in Exeter soon, I realsied that would be the worst job in the world for me (after primary school teacher), I can imagine the advice I would give to people…

‘Yes, it is very white, and shiny, yes it has bluemoose, of course it has wirefire, oh what operating system you say? Its got all the operating systems…’

Days off…

Written by neil on September 26, 2007 at 10:48 am in Uncategorized

…had a few days off in a row and done not a lot. A little more looking round for work (my pay came into my account thankfully though), have a job interview tomorrow, went to see A Mighty Heart at the cinema yesterday (really good film although it made me cry a bit), have played on Steve and Sarahs Wii, went to the Mill on the Exe, looked around the nice shiney new shopping centre in Exeter and for some reason watched Gordon Browns party conference speech…

Back from Cornwall…

Written by neil on September 18, 2007 at 11:17 am in Uncategorized

…An excellent weekend, one of the best organised and unique weddings I have ever been to, Cornwall was lovely and the weather was great, and thanks to my parents for having us.

Pictures will come in due course, once we are online!

Washing machine man came this morning and fixed the thing, so we will spend most of tonight working through our backlog…

Nearly a week…

Written by neil on September 12, 2007 at 2:12 pm in Uncategorized

…Since I last blogged, sorry about that.

Ivonne has moved all her stuff in now, it just needs to find homes. The flat is looking properly liveable in now.

Still looking for work, applied for 2 this week, wish me luck, i really need a new job in the next few weeks I feel.

Off to a wedding in Cornwall this weekend, making a long weekend of it and staying down there from Tomorrow to Monday. Weather forcast is great and it will be nice to get out in the fresh air of Cornwall and eat pasties and ice cream and drink Cornish ale (Doom Bar, yum)

Saw Hallam Foe at the weekend, excellent but weird film with a brilliant soundtrack. Hard to describe what happens in the film without is sounding sleazy…

Bourne Again…

Written by neil on September 6, 2007 at 11:29 am in Uncategorized

…Great third film, I loved it so much, although I did feel a little motion sick watching it on the huge screen one at the Vue, but it was fantastic, relentless action from beginning to end, always moving on, always moving fast but not forgetting the plot. It would be a crime if Greengrass does not make a fourth film…

Busy, but not a lot to say…

Written by neil on September 5, 2007 at 4:15 pm in Uncategorized

…well another trip to Argos last night, that means more building things, flat is looking more shipshape, or flatshape, or whatever, trip to Pizzahut, old computers at work being thrown away, I might try and grab one and see if I can get it usable, looking for a nice TV that is not too expensive, bought a Kakuro book to try and divert me from Sudoku for a while, listening to lots of The Shins…

like I said, not a lot to say.
