Yet more SPCK news…

From all the reports I hear from suppliers and current staff both of these reports are true, I am sure trust in SPCK has been lost with many people, I will certainly never support them again.

Work is still good for me, I suddenly realised today how banks make money, I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you…

Record breaking…

…this blog is about to have more vistors this month than any other month since its conception!

I am sure this is partly to do with the SPCK postings, and the press coverage that a mass resignation gets. I can confirm that the craziness continues at SPCK, but I won’t say anything on here to protect my sources, some of whom still work in the shops, and some of whom are (or rather were, but no doubt hope to be again)suppliers to the shops. I have not actually been into the Exeter shop since I left, but might make a little trip up there next week.

First week…

…the first week is done and dusted, I even served a couple of customers yesterday, and counted massive amounts of money (bundles of £5000 will take some getting used to!). Have my nice uniform now, Pink or Green shirts, funky cuff links and trousers, jackets and ties. I feel like a proper bank worker now.

Bought my first new CD for ages, Mary Chapin Carpenter The Calling, and am really enjoying it. Will allow myself one new CD a month for the time being, and see how finances pan out!

4 days in…

…four days in and all going well so far, have had 2 days in Cardiff training, and I will admit some of it was quite confusing, but I was not the only one to find it so – and apparently it all starts to make sense in time. Today I have been reading though pages and pages of health and safety and security manuals. Rather frightening that there are whole sections on raids and kidnappings…

Other than that not been up to much, other than being on trains or sitting in training rooms. Have cought up with listening to a backlog of podcasts though.

Oh, and there was the small matter of the race on Sunday, ah well, at least Alonso did not win… and we also went to see Russell Howard live, he was ever so funny and my jaw ached by the end of the night, but it all seems so long ago now…

Starting work…

…I will be starting work tomorrow! A day at the branch then two days in Cardiff training – so if anyone is about in Cardiff on Tuesday evening then let me know! Very exciting and all stightly nerve wracking at the same time.

Before that though it is of course the big race, come on Lewis just hold it together and finish second…

I will not desert this blog though, the Wibsite was my first love and it will be my last. Or something.

Green thing on the hill near Exeter…

…When I came out of Sainsburys earlier I noticed this on the hill…

Exeter Transmitter

Let’s zoom in on that a bit…

Exeter Transmitter

I can only think that it is a transmitter wrapped in scaffolding, not that I have ever noticed a transmitter there before (and I used to be quite geeky about these things). I might just be forced to go for a drive later and see what it is…

Uncategorisable Cornwall pictures…

… Some pictures just won’t be pigeonholed, here are a few that I took in Cornwall…

Cornwall Rabies
Cornwall Foot and Mouth
Rabies, foot and mouth – we didn’t dare get near a living thing in Cornwall. Talking of living things…

Cornwall Donkey
Why do donkeys always look sad?

Cornwall Butchery
Cornwall Bar
The Cornish tradition of dual-purpose church buildings. We could not get a drink at St. Just though, the nearest thing was a holy well.

Cornwall Teapot Cornwall Owl
Teapot in a tree, and a wooden owl. Is there anything they won’t do in Cornwall?

Finally the scene that greeted us to Laura and Alexs wedding…
